Colorado

This years annual Velasquez family vacation was to Breckenridge, Colorado instead of Destin. What a great idea we thought...

This was amazingly Addie's first plane ride (Jacob and Caitlin both had their first ride when they were 3 months old) and she did great. She slept part of the time and then watched Blue's Clues the rest of the ride. Overall she was a great traveler and did well away from home for so long.

The first day was pretty much traveling and we didn't get to the house until around 7pm. The house was a three story 7 bedroom house with an amazing deck and view. We were pretty high up so the mountains were all around. The second day we went to church and exploring the town. Tony, some of my nieces and nephews, my brother and sister in law, and my Dad all had altitude sickness, so we took it easy. Luckily this was short lived for everyone but my Dad. My Dad couldn't get over it, so him and my Mom left three days early. This was a bummer and really changed the trip. My parents are the one's that provide us with this wonderful trip and it was terrible that they were not there to enjoy it with us. We still had a good time, but it was very clear someone was missing. Needless to say, we will not be going to Colorado again as a family. I would like to go back sometime in the winter to see what it looks like with snow, but it wouldn't be with everyone..

Monday we went on an all day tour. We started out going up to the Continental Divide, it was very windy and FREEZING up there. This is why only Tony and Jacob are in the picture. The rest of us where waiting in the van. We then rode an open car train, toured a mine ( Addie and I waited outside) and toured downtown Georgetown, Co. Tuesday Tony, Jacob, and the rest of the gang went river rafting. Apparently it was pretty intense, but they had a great time. Addie, Caitlin and I went to the Children's Museum and around town. Wednesday was the day my parents left. The rest of us went up to Vail and rode a gondala up to the top of a mountain. Again, beautiful views.

Thursday we went to Peak 8 and rode the big slides which were so much fun. They also had mineral panning, bungee jumping, a maze, mini golf, and rock climbing.

Friday was a two hour horse back riding tour in the mountains. My horse kept pushing me into the trees. Caitlin and Jacob loved it, especially when their horses started trotting. We had to come home Saturday, exhausted and ready for our own beds.

On a side note. Did you notice all the things Jacob did, river rafting, horse back riding, big slides and bungee jumping. He would not have been able to do any of this a year ago, what a blessing he was able to do it now!! His next appt is next week and we are expecting more good news!

The kid are looking forward to next year's family vacation, I wonder where it will be??
