Update on Jacob

It's hard not to do a blog on our lives and not put something about Jacob. You can't really tell from the pictures, but he is pretty bruised up right now. He had an appt Friday and his platelet levels were 6,ooo (normal being 200,000) which is the second lowest they have been. He has started steroids and will take these for 21 days. It taste disgusting, which are his exact words, but he is doing it. I'm hoping we won't see the side effects they warned us about, mostly the irritability and jitters. He is starting to get pretty down asking what he did to deserve this and saying he hates his life. I'm trying to keep it positive and am also bribing him with star wars legos, which probably goes against everything experts say to do, but it's hard to watch him go through this without giving a little positive incentive. He goes every Friday for blood draws and the Dr has prescribed an anti anxiety medicine for him to take before he goes because it's getting worse and worse each time. On a positive note, all his results from his bone marrow came back normal. It's straight up ITP, so now we just figure out how to get his platelet count up.
